Social Justice Documentary Production for Nonprofits

Hosted by UHeights Resident Org Social Justice Film Institute From September 10th to October 3rd every Tuesday and Thursday in room 208 at UHeights, from 9:30 AM - 12:00 Noon. Learn how to create content for your organization’s mission and learn how to tell a story meaningfully and with visual impact.


This class is designed for nonprofit staff members, but anyone can take this course. Learn how to create content for your organization's mission, whether for social media, web presence, or fundraising purposes. Participants will learn how to tell their organization's story meaningfully and with visual impact.

The class will introduce participants to screen language and sequencing and provide hands-on experience with digital video cameras and professional editing systems.

Participants will work to produce 3 to 4-minute short videos about local nonprofit organizations or stories with a social justice theme.

This workshop's instructor is teaching artist Sam Hampton, PhD. Sam is the executive director of the Social Justice Film Institute and an award-winning documentary filmmaker (hamptonfilms.com).
